Location: Plymouth
Salary range: £29,228 – £34,581
Full time – Open Ended Appointment

Job Purpose: You will be required to undertake high quality marine ecosystem service research to deliver existing and new commissioned research projects in PML working at the interdisciplinary boundary between natural and social science.

Key Deliverables: 

– To apply an understanding of marine ecosystem structure and function to quantify changes in marine ecosystem services e.g. in response to management measures to comply with EU legislation, marine planning, marine renewable energy implementation.

-To provide focussed marine ecology support to, or lead research on marine environmental economics and the social implications fo changes in marine ecosystem services.

– Produce research publications and other associated outputs.

– Support development of the interdisciplinary environmental economic research area within PML and extension of its profile externally.

PML is looking for:

  • a motivated individual with a PhD, or equivalent level experience;
  • a high level of knowledge of marine ecology including biodiversity and ecosystem functioning;
  • a proven record of written and published scientific papers;
  • good organisational skills, being able to prioritise own workload;
  • good experience of working on interdisciplinary projects.
